How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    SEN Teaching Assistant – Secondary
    Location: Hillingdon, London
    Salary: £100 – £101.10 per day
    Contract: Full Time | Temporary | Long-Term
    Start Date: June 2026
    Salary dependent on experience and qualifications. Higher rates are reserved for candidates with substantial experience and/or relevant training. Pay is determined in line with school expectations and Agency Worker Regulations (AWR), where applicable.

    About the Role

    Teach Now is working with a welcoming and community-focused secondary school in Hillingdon to recruit a committed SEN Teaching Assistant. This is a rewarding opportunity to support students across Key Stages 3 to 5, helping them overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential.

    You will play an important role in supporting students with a range of additional needs, contributing to both their academic progress and personal development in a structured and supportive environment.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with Special Educational Needs
    • Work closely with teaching staff to implement tailored learning strategies
    • Support students with communication, learning, and behavioural needs
    • Assist in delivering and monitoring EHCPs and individual support plans
    • Encourage independence, confidence, and engagement in lessons
    • Help maintain a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment

    Requirements
    • Experience working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN), ideally within a school or similar setting
    • A patient, resilient approach with the ability to build positive and supportive relationships with students
    • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
    • Confidence in supporting students with behavioural and emotional needs
    • A proactive, adaptable attitude and a clear commitment to inclusive education

    Desirable (not essential):

    • Experience supporting students with Autism (ASC), ADHD, or SEMH
    • Background in education, care, or youth work
    • Relevant qualifications (e.g. CACHE Level 2/3, Teaching Assistant qualification)
