How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Job Title: Design & Technology Teacher (Resistant Materials / Graphics)
    Location: Hillingdon, London, UK
    Salary: £37,870 – £56,154 per annum
    Job Type: Full Time | Temporary | Long Term (0.6 / 0.8 considered)
    Start Date: 01 June 2026
    Salary will be determined based on experience and position on the Main Pay Range. The maximum salary is applicable to candidates with substantial teaching experience equivalent to U3.

    About the Role

    We are seeking a resilient and committed Design & Technology Teacher specialising in Resistant Materials and/or Graphics to join a secondary school in Hillingdon.

    This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a setting that supports students who may present with challenging behaviour, where strong relationships, consistency, and adaptability are key to success. You will deliver engaging DT lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, helping students develop practical skills and confidence in a structured environment.

    The role offers flexibility, with part-time options (0.6 or 0.8) available, or the opportunity to work full-time by contributing to additional subject areas such as Art, PSHE, Maths, or Science. You will play an important role in supporting students with a range of behavioural and learning needs, ensuring lessons are accessible, engaging, and supportive.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Deliver engaging DT lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4
    • Teach Resistant Materials and/or Graphics
    • Support students with a range of behavioural and learning needs
    • Contribute to additional subjects (e.g. Art, PSHE, Maths, or Science) where required to create a full timetable
    • Maintain a positive and structured learning environment

    Requirements
    • QTS or equivalent
    • Experience teaching Design & Technology (Resistant Materials/Graphics preferred)
    • Strong behaviour management skills and confidence working with challenging students
    • Flexibility to teach additional subjects if required
    • Resilient, consistent, and able to build strong relationships with students
