How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    GSL are seeking enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to support students in a secondary school setting with identified learning needs, including SEN (Special Educational Needs) and SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health). This role is based in an Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ school and involves supporting students on a 1:1 and small group basis across Key Stages 3 and 4.

    You will work alongside experienced teachers and support staff to help students access the curriculum, develop confidence, and achieve their full academic and personal potential.

    In-class support across a variety of subjects
    Targeted 1:1 and small group interventions
    Exam preparation and coursework support
    Enrichment and extracurricular activities such as sports, trips, and wider school events
    As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students with additional needs. You will work closely with subject teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to deliver personalised support strategies that enable students to engage with the secondary curriculum.

    Teaching Assistant – Secondary – Education and Training – Chelmsford

    Position: Teaching Assistant (1:1 / Small Group)
    Location: Chelmsford
    Salary Scale: £92.59–£120 per day
    Contract Type: Full-time

    Responsibilities:

    Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with additional learning needs
    Support students in accessing a range of secondary subjects (e.g. English, Maths, Science)
    Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and EHCP targets
    Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff
    Promote positive behaviour, engagement, and emotional regulation
    Monitor and track student progress, providing feedback to staff
    Support students during lessons, transitions, and unstructured times where required
    Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment

    Qualifications and Skills:

    Strong communication and interpersonal skills
    Ability to build positive relationships with secondary-aged students
    Patience, resilience, and adaptability
    A genuine interest in supporting young people with SEN/SEMH needs
    Proactive approach and willingness to work as part of a team
    Previous experience in a school or similar setting is desirable but not essential
