How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Senior Software Engineer
    Salary: Negotiable (Depending on Experience)
    Location: North London Area
    Schedule: 3-days on site and 2-days WFH per week

    The Opportunity
    We are supporting a globally recognised engineering business at the forefront of advanced radar and surveillance technology in the search for a Senior Software Engineer.

    This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in the development of innovative, high-performance software solutions used within cutting-edge maritime navigation and defence systems. You will take ownership of software design across the full lifecycle, contributing to both new product development and the continuous improvement of existing systems.

    The Role
    As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering robust, high-quality software from initial concept through to verification and release. You will also act as a technical mentor within the team, supporting the development of junior engineers and contributing to a collaborative engineering environment.

    Key responsibilities include:
    Designing, developing, and delivering software solutions in line with project requirements
    Taking ownership of the full software development lifecycle, from specification through to testing and maintenance
    Supporting and enhancing existing software to meet evolving commercial and technical needs
    Collaborating with internal teams as well as external customers, suppliers, and partners
    Providing technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers
    Contributing to continuous improvement and innovation across software development practices
    Experience & Skills

    Strong experience in C++ software development
    Proven experience delivering projects across the full software development lifecycle
    Solid understanding of development environments such as Microsoft Visual Studio (2022/2026)
    Experience with GUI/UX or Human-Computer Interaction (HCI)
    Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python or PowerShell
    Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline
    Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
