Position: Container Transport Planner

Location: Felixstowe
Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 + Electric Company Car (DOE)
Hours: Monday to Friday (Full Time)

We're working with a well-established and growing transport and logistics business in Felixstowe, who are looking to appoint an experienced Container Transport Planner to join their operations team.

This is a key position within the business, suited to someone who is confident working independently, managing a high-volume fleet, and making real-time operational decisions in a fast-paced environment.

The Role

You'll be responsible for planning and coordinating container movements across the UK, ensuring maximum efficiency, service levels, and cost control.

Key responsibilities include:

Planning and managing the daily operations of 20+ HGV trucks
Coordinating container collections and deliveries to and from ports
Optimising routes to maximise efficiency and minimise empty running
Liaising with drivers, customers, and port operations teams
Managing changes, delays, and operational challenges in real time
Ensuring compliance with driver hours, transport regulations, and company procedures
Maintaining accurate planning records and system updates
Delivering high levels of customer service at all times
What We're Looking For

Proven experience in container transport planning
Ability to independently manage 20+ trucks in a busy operation
Strong working knowledge of TOPS (Traffic Office Processing System)
Booking and managing deliveries via VBS (Vehicle Booking Systems)
Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills
Confident communicator with the ability to manage drivers and stakeholders
Ability to remain calm and make decisions under pressure
Strong attention to detail and commercial awareness
