How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Functional Safety Engineer

    £50,000 - £70,000 + Progression + Training + Company Benefits + Hybrid / Remote Options

    UK-based - Mostly Remote, Ideally Located Commutable Edinburgh For Occasional Client Or Office Visits

    Are you an ambitious Functional Safety professional ready to take ownership of safety-critical projects within a growing engineering consultancy?

    On offer is the chance to lead process safety initiatives, delivering risk assessments, safety reviews, and compliance support while working closely with project teams and clients. Mostly remote, with occasional visits to client sites or the office.

    This independent consultancy helps clients in energy, infrastructure, and industrial sectors manage risks, operate safely, and navigate complex projects.     In this role, you'll carry out safety assessments, develop procedures, support hazard identification, and ensure projects run safely, while guiding teams and promoting a strong safety culture.

    This position is ideal for a detail-driven Process Safety professional ideally with experience in energy, oil & gas, or industrial environments who enjoys delivering practical safety solutions while benefiting from a highly flexible working arrangement.

    The Role:

    Process Safety Engineer for a well-established engineering consultancy

    Mon - Fri 8 - 4 or 9 - 5 (flexible), mostly WFH with occasional client or office visitsThe Person:

    Proven experience in process safety or process engineering
    ideally with experience in energy, oil & gas, or industrial environments
    FSA Level 4 Certification / Experience - Candidates without but can demonstrate strong functional safety experience also considered
