How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    GSL Education is currently recruiting Primary Supply Teachers to work across a range of primary schools across Colchester and the surrounding areas, including Multi-Academy Trusts and independent schools. We have a high demand for teachers, offering everything from day-to-day supply to long-term placements.

    About the Role

    As a Primary Supply Teacher, you’ll have the opportunity to work across a variety of school settings and year groups, delivering pre-planned lessons and ensuring continuity of learning in the absence of the class teacher.

    This role offers great flexibility, allowing you to choose when and where you work, while gaining valuable experience in different school environments.

    What You’ll Be Doing

    Delivering pre-planned lessons across EYFS, KS1, and/or KS2
    Managing the classroom effectively and maintaining a positive learning environment
    Ensuring pupils remain engaged and on task
    Adapting to different schools, classes, and teaching styles
    Following school policies and safeguarding procedures
    Providing feedback to the class teacher at the end of the day

    What We’re Looking For

    Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
    Experience teaching in primary schools
    Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
    A flexible and adaptable approach
    Reliable, professional, and confident in new environments
    A genuine passion for teaching and supporting pupils
    Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
