A highly established international investment house is expanding its London legal capability and is seeking an in‑house Corporate M&A lawyer focused on private equity transactions. This is a newly created role, offering front‑line exposure to sponsor‑led deals across Europe and other key markets, with legal embedded directly into the investment process.
Working closely and collaboratively with the deal team, you will act as a core adviser from the earliest stages of an investment through execution and exit. You will lead the legal structuring and execution of complex acquisitions and disposals, manage external counsel, and support negotiations to ensure transactions are delivered efficiently and in line with commercial strategy. The role is hands‑on, fast‑paced and fully integrated with the investment function rather than operating as a remote legal support role.
The role is suited to a lawyer with the experience and judgement to lead sophisticated corporate M&A transactions autonomously, ideally around 5–7 years’ post‑qualification experience in top‑tier private practice. The successful candidate will have trained and practised at a top‑tier City, Magic Circle or leading US law firm, with a strong track record advising on corporate M&A transactions in a private equity or sponsor‑driven context. Prior in‑house experience within a private equity firm would be beneficial, though not essential.
You will be commercially minded, comfortable working at pace, and able to distil complex legal issues into clear, pragmatic advice for non‑legal stakeholders.
This opportunity offers a foundational role in building the London‑based legal function within a global private equity platform, with meaningful responsibility, senior exposure and the ability to influence how legal supports and enhances the firm’s investment strategy.
