Residential Building Surveyor
Hampshire | Home‑Based with Local Patch
We are working with a well‑established independent property consultancy that is looking to appoint a Chartered Building / Property Surveyor to join its team.
This is a home‑based role, with survey work focused predominantly across Hampshire. The position has been created due to sustained demand and offers a high degree of autonomy, flexibility and long‑term career opportunity.
The Role
The role is primarily focused on residential surveying, with flexibility to tailor the workload to suit the successful candidate’s strengths and preferences.
Key responsibilities include:
- Carrying out residential building surveys and HomeBuyer Reports
- Inspecting properties and identifying building defects, maintenance and repair issues
- Producing clear, accurate and well‑structured survey reports for private clients
- Communicating findings professionally, both verbally and in writing
- Managing your own diary, instructions and workload end‑to‑end
There is also scope for candidates to broaden into other types of surveying or property work over time, should they wish.
Candidate Profile
This opportunity would suit a surveyor currently working in private practice who is seeking a role with greater flexibility, autonomy and work–life balance, without compromising on professional standards or quality of work.
You are likely to have:
- Experience undertaking residential surveys
- Strong understanding of building construction and structural defects
- A methodical approach with excellent attention to detail
- The ability to work independently while remaining part of a team
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Qualifications:
- MRICS or FRICS preferred
- Experienced AssocRICS candidates will also be considered
- Full UK driving licence essential
