How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

With over 70 years of engineering heritage, this family-run company has evolved from a specialist repair business into a provider of complete electrical and control engineering solutions. Supporting a range of top-tier industrial clients across the South of England, their continued success and reputation are driving further expansion within the service engineering team.

They are now seeking Inverter Drives & Control Engineers to support a growing portfolio of reactive and planned site-based work.

    Kent

    Ref: 24416

Drives Service Engineers - The Role:

This is a varied, hands-on service role focused on electrical drives, motor control, and industrial control systems. Key responsibilities include

Fault finding and repair of electrical installations and control systems
Working primarily with three-phase motor starters, including star/delta, soft starters, and variable speed drives
Installation and commissioning of variable speed drives
Removal and replacement of motor starters and associated control gear
Carrying out modifications to existing control panels
Working directly with customers to understand requirements and deliver effective solutions
Participation in a call-out rota to support reactive maintenance work

Drives Service Engineers - The Person:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Proven experience fault finding and repairing variable speed drives
(experience with ABB drives is advantageous but not essential)
17th or 18th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations
The ability to modify existing control panels
Confidence reading and making changes to electrical schematics
Experience working on industrial electrical and control systems
The ability to work effectively independently or as part of a team

This role offers a high level of variety, exposing engineers to multiple areas of the business and a wide range of customer sites. It is ideal for engineers who enjoy site-based work but want to remain local, with minimal overnight stays.

Engineers can significantly increase earnings through paid overtime and call-outs, typically earning up to a third more on top of base salary. You will also receive:

    A company van
Structured training and development tailored to each Engineer
Long-term career progression within a growing, well-established business

Located in Kent, this role would be commutable from Maidstone, Sittingbourne, Faversham, Canterbury, Rochester, Sheerness and Gillingham.
