Contract Power BI Developer - Banking

6‑Month Contract | Inside IR35
Location: Bristol, Birmingham, or Manchester (2 days onsite per week)

My client a leading global Bank are recruiting for a Contract Power BI Developer to support within a central Data & Analytics function.

This role focuses on designing and delivering high quality Power BI datasets, data models, and dashboards that support critical business and regulatory reporting. You will play a key role in strengthening BI governance, improving resilience, and enabling AI‑ready analytics across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

Design, build, and optimise Power BI datasets and semantic data models
Develop intuitive, high‑performance dashboards and reports
Write and optimise DAX for KPIs, time intelligence, and complex business logic
Perform data transformation using Power Query (M) and SQL
Improve BI resilience including data quality, refresh reliability, performance, and access controls
Document data lineage, business logic, and reporting solutions
Collaborate with stakeholders, data engineers, and platform teams
Support automation and AI‑enabled BI capabilities where appropriate

Skills & Experience Required

Strong hands‑on experience with Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, DAX, and Power Query
Solid SQL skills and understanding of dimensional data modelling
Experience delivering BI solutions within banking, financial services, or other regulated environments
Strong stakeholder engagement and the ability to translate requirements into scalable BI solutions
Comfortable working in an agile, multi‑stakeholder environment

Desirable Experience

Banking/ Financial services experience
Consultancy background delivering BI or analytics solutions
Exposure to automation, AI‑driven reporting, or enterprise BI governance
