Buyer – Construction
Location: Reading (Hybrid: 3 days office / 2 days home)
Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 + benefits
We are working with a well-established construction company in Reading that is looking to appoint an experienced Buyer to join their growing procurement team. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in delivering high-quality projects while benefiting from a flexible working environment.
The Role
As a Buyer, you will be responsible for sourcing and procuring materials, plant, and subcontract services across a range of construction projects. You will work closely with project managers and commercial teams to ensure cost-effective and timely delivery.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing the procurement of materials and subcontract packages
- Negotiating with suppliers to secure best value and terms
- Building and maintaining strong supplier relationships
- Monitoring market trends and pricing fluctuations
- Supporting project teams with cost planning and supply chain strategy
- Ensuring compliance with company procedures and industry standards
About You
- Previous experience in a Buyer or Procurement role within construction
- Strong negotiation and commercial skills
- Good knowledge of construction materials and supply chains
- Excellent communication and organisational abilities
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
