How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Assistant Head of School (Teaching & Learning)

    The Beech House School

The Beech House School is part of Cameron & Cooper Limited — a therapeutically informed community spanning residential care, supported accommodation, and specialist education. We currently have a small school based on site at one of our care homes. In January 2027 we will be opening the doors of our larger school near Farnham. This will allow us to educate up to 50 SEMH pupils, although we are likely to start with around 15 pupils. Our school exists to help young people with complex SEMH needs connect with learning, with others, and with themselves. Rooted in Love, Care, and Consistency, we are unapologetically ambitious for our pupils and for the adults who work alongside them.

We are now seeking a passionate Assistant Head of School (Teaching & Learning) to join our Leadership Team. This role will work closely with the wider management team of the organisation. This role blends strategic leadership with hands-on modelling of trauma‑informed practice, shaping an ambitious, therapeutic curriculum that empowers pupils to succeed, thrive, and belong.

    The Role

As Assistant Head (Teaching & Learning), you will:

    • Lead the strategic development and delivery of our whole‑school curriculum — academic, vocational, and therapeutic.

    • Model trauma‑informed practise.

    • Design and implement systems for curriculum planning, assessment, and pupil progress.

    • Drive instructional coaching, modelling, and high‑trust feedback to grow staff confidence and craft.

    • Lead quality assurance, learning walks, and collaborative planning cycles.

    • Champion professional learning pathways and manage a team of teaching staff

    • Contribute to whole‑school leadership and act as DDSL as required.

    • Teach small groups (typically 3–6 pupils) across at least two subject areas, bringing creativity, flexibility, and therapeutic understanding to every lesson.

    • Build strong, attuned relationships with pupils, using co‑regulation, restorative practice, and relational approaches to promote safety and learning.

    • Work closely with therapists, pastoral staff, and care teams to deliver joined‑up, wraparound provision.

    Who We’re Looking For

    You will be:

    • A qualified teacher with substantial teaching experience and proven impact on teaching, learning, and outcomes.

    • Deeply relational, with strong understanding of trauma‑informed practice, SEMH, SEND, or alternative provision.

    • Skilled in coaching, feedback, and managing teaching staff.

    • Experienced in curriculum leadership, assessment systems, and driving quality across a team.

    • Reflective, growth‑oriented, and open to supervision, coaching, and continuous learning.

    • Flexible, resilient, and grounded in the belief that behaviour is communication.

    Desirable:

    • Senior or middle leadership experience in a specialist setting

    • NPQSL or equivalent (or willingness to undertake)

    • Experience developing cross‑curricular or thematic learning

    • Involvement in school improvement and inspection readiness

    What We Offer

    • An evolving therapeutic framework and therapy team to support the students

    • Small class sizes and high staff‑to‑pupil ratios

    • A beautifully renovated Grade II Listed building, created with a therapeutic environment in the forefronty

    • Structured staff supervision and reflective practice

    • Coaching‑based professional development, CPD and leadership pathways

    • Opportunities for further qualifications (e.g., NPQs, trauma‑informed certifications)

    • An opportunity to create a new school and culture, as the new school opens in January 2027

    • Wellbeing support and a culture across the staff team and young people of love, care and consistency.

    Safeguarding

    • Cameron & Cooper Limited is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All applicants will undergo thorough child protection screening, including reference checks and an enhanced DBS check.
