Job Description: Building Safety Officer
Role Summary
Hours: Monday – Friday, 08:30 – 17:00
Location: Head Office (Manchester)
Salary: £32,000
Contract Type: Full Time, Permanent
The Building Safety Officer will be responsible for monitoring and progressing building safety matters, including fire and structural safety, in support of the Property Management function. This role sits within an established team and will take ownership of regulatory compliance, fire safety processes, and procedures, acting as a key point of contact for internal stakeholders across the business.
The successful candidate will have a solid understanding of the Building Safety Act, Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022, and associated legislation, along with knowledge of Safety Case Reports within residential high-rise environments.
Duties and Responsibilities
The primary purpose of this role is to support the management of building safety as part of a wider technical and compliance team, including:
- Managing activities relating to the preparation and submission of Building Safety Case Reports, working with third-party suppliers and internal teams
- Coordinating responses to requests for further information in line with regulatory requirements, including organising project teams consisting of clients, property managers, and external stakeholders
- Liaising with local authority bodies such as Fire and Rescue Services and the Building Safety Regulator
- Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulations, including fire safety and resident engagement requirements
- Providing a high level of customer service to both external service providers and internal colleagues
- Developing a strong understanding of the company’s property portfolio and individual building requirements
- Responding to sales and legal enquiries, including completing LPE1 queries relating to building safety
- Supporting the maintenance of high compliance standards across the business
- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of building safety matters and industry best practice
Requirements
- Understanding of building safety and fire safety legislation (or a willingness to learn)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organisational abilities
- Good financial awareness
- Ability to produce reports and maintain accurate records
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- IT literate, including Microsoft Office and other systems
Desirable (Not Essential)
- Experience within residential property management
- Experience preparing or reviewing Building Safety Case Reports
- Experience using property management software systems
- Experience in a similar role or environment
- Experience working collaboratively within teams
