JSS Search are partnering with a high-growth, early-stage venture capital fund to hire an Associate into their London-based investment team.
This is a compelling opportunity to join a scaling Deep Tech VC platform investing at pre-seed across Europe, backing highly technical founders emerging from leading universities and research environments. The fund focuses on breakthrough innovation across areas such as AI, BioTech, Robotics, Materials and Physics, and is continuing to expand its footprint across key European ecosystems.
The Role
The Associate will play a key role across the full investment lifecycle, gaining exposure to all aspects of venture investing:
- Proactively sourcing and originating new Deep Tech investment opportunities across Europe
- Building relationships with scientific founders, researchers, and university networks
- Evaluating highly technical opportunities and supporting detailed due diligence processes
- Contributing to investment decisions and internal discussions
- Supporting portfolio companies post-investment, working closely with founders
- Managing and developing the deal flow pipeline
- Representing the fund at events and across key European startup ecosystems
- The role offers early responsibility, with the expectation that the successful candidate will quickly begin to take ownership of deals and build their own portfolio exposure, including potential board involvement over time.
What They’re Looking For
This role requires a genuine passion for Deep Tech and an interest in working with highly technical founders tackling complex, frontier challenges.
Candidates are likely to come from one of the following backgrounds:
- Investment Banking or Management Consulting (2–4 years)
- Venture Capital (ideally with exposure to Deep Tech or early-stage investing)
- Big Tech, product, or engineering-led environments
- Founder or senior operator within a high-growth startup
In addition, the ideal candidate will demonstrate:
- Strong intellectual curiosity and ability to engage with complex technical concepts
- Clear interest in Deep Tech sectors (AI, BioTech, Robotics, Physics, Materials, etc.)
- Entrepreneurial mindset and comfort operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with founders and stakeholders
- Proactive attitude and a bias for action
A technical academic background (STEM, ideally post-graduate level) is advantageous but not essential. Additional European language skills and/or networks across continental ecosystems would be beneficial.
