Industrial Designer - New Product Development
A consumer products business in the outdoor and lifestyle sector is looking for an Industrial Designer to join its New Product Development team. This role focuses on elevating the visual design, user experience, and brand consistency of a broad product range, working closely with buying, engineering, and manufacturing partners.
This is a fast-paced, delivery-focused position, balancing aesthetic ambition with commercial and manufacturing realities.
Key Responsibilities
Apply and maintain a consistent design language across a wide product portfolio
Evaluate factory samples and define targeted design improvements to meet brand standards
Produce high-quality visualisations, CMF specifications, and technical packs for suppliers
Work closely with engineering and buying teams to ensure products are functional, durable, and commercially viable
Balance project scope and timelines, deciding when “light touch” vs “full redesign” is required
Oversee user experience and perceived quality across hardware, assembly, and use
Design, build, and test mechanical prototypes where required
Requirements
Degree in Industrial Design or Product Design
Strong portfolio demonstrating form, branding, and product detail
Experience working in fast-paced product development environments
Proficiency in CAD and visualisation tools (e.g. SolidWorks/Rhino, Keyshot, Adobe Suite)
Good understanding of manufacturing processes and cost/lead-time trade-offs
Strong communication skills for working with internal teams and overseas suppliers
