How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Manager - Tax Dispute Resolution

As one of the world's largest networks of audit, tax and consulting firms, RSM delivers big ideas and premium service to help middle-market businesses thrive. We are a fast-growing firm with big ambitions -- we have a clear goal to become the premium adviser to the middle market, globally. This vision touches everything we do, motivating and inspiring us to become better every day. If you are looking for a firm where you can build a future and make an impact, then RSM is the place for you.

Make an Impact at RSM UK

Our national corporate tax service line supports a wide range of businesses with tax compliance and advisory services, fostering a culture of individuality, collaboration, and positive change to drive success for both our people and clients. When you become part of our tax team, you’ll discover a culture celebrating individuality, fresh thinking, flexibility and collaboration, whilst not only embracing change but impacting it. As a result of sustained success and continued growth, we are investing in the Corporate Tax Team in the North West, where you will collaboratively work within RSM’s national and international network of tax professionals.

As a Tax Dispute Resolution Manager in our Manchester office, you will work with businesses and individuals as well as HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) in resolving issues relating to tax disputes and enquiries. You will combine technical expertise with expert knowledge and experience to obtain successful outcomes to our client’s interactions with HMRC.

    You'll make an impact by:

    * Managing relationships with a portfolio of clients and acting as the main point of contact.

    * Delivering a high-quality Tax Dispute Resolution Service to our clients, in collaboration with your colleagues, and addressing any queries relating to client engagements from other RSM teams.

    * Working closely with your colleagues to deliver clear and concise solutions to a range of administrative and analytical issues relevant to client’s HMRC enquiries and interventions, whilst adhering to the Firm’s quality standards.

    * Collaborating with Partners, Directors and Associate Directors in business development activities.

    * Being a positive influence on junior members of staff and taking an active role in their development.

    What we are looking for:

Are you someone who thrives on variety, loves learning new things, and enjoys connecting with people? If you can spot inefficiencies in everyday life and are passionate about making improvements, this role is perfect for you!

We value diverse experiences and perspectives. Here’s what we’re looking for in our ideal candidate:

    * CTA or ATII qualified, or equivalent, ideally along with an accounting qualification such as ACA or ACCA.

    * Ideally, experience in communicating (written and verbal) with HMRC is preferred, however this is not essential.

    * Proven experience in client handling and managing a busy portfolio, including managing multiple deadlines and delegation.

    * Proven ability to manage and develop junior team members.

    * Strong analytical and computational skills.

    * Strong letter and report writing skills.

    * Strong interpersonal skills with excellent communication, both written and verbal with an ability to liaise with people at all levels.

    * Ability and confidence to liaise with both internal and external clients.

    What we can offer you:

We recognise that our people are our most important assets. That’s why we offer a flexible reward and benefits package that will help you have fulfilling experience, both in and out of work.

    * 27 days holiday (with the option of purchasing additional days).

    * Lifestyle, health, and wellbeing including financial wellbeing benefits such as financial tools, electric car scheme and access to a virtual GP.

    * Individual healthcare cover.

    * Access to a suite of 300+ courses on demand developed by our inhouse talent development team
