Ceto Talent is recruiting a CNC Technician / Fitter for a contract opportunity supporting rolling stock upgrade and maintenance activity within a major London rail workshop environment.
This is a hands‑on, workshop‑based role with a strong emphasis on CNC machining and component manufacture, combined with mechanical fitting and assembly work. The role is fully site‑based in West London.
About You
You will be apprentice‑trained with a Level 3 Mechanical or Electrical qualification (or equivalent) and have practical experience working as a CNC Technician, CNC Machinist, or Mechanical Fitter with CNC exposure.
You will be confident operating CNC machinery. Programming experience is beneficial but not essential. You will be comfortable using hand tools, power tools, torque wrenches, and precision measuring equipment such as verniers and micrometers.
Experience working in a workshop, rail, or heavy engineering environment is desirable. You should be willing to support overtime when required to meet operational demands.
The Role
You will operate CNC machinery to support the manufacture and modification of rolling stock components, alongside mechanical fitting and assembly duties. The role supports ongoing rolling stock maintenance and upgrade work within a safety‑critical environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Operate CNC machinery to manufacture and modify components
* Carry out mechanical fitting and assembly work to engineering instructions
* Apply correct torque settings and witness marking
* Use measuring equipment to verify component tolerances
* Support workshop operations in line with safety and quality requirements
Working Arrangements
* Location: West London
* Contract length: 6 months
* Working pattern: Full‑time, onsite workshop role
* Standard hours:
* Monday to Thursday: 07:00 – 15:00
* Friday: 07:00 – 13:30
* Overtime: Available, subject to workload
* Rate: £40.54 per hour (Umbrella)
