How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    We’re working in partnership with a well-established and respected multi-disciplinary consultancy, as they continue to expand their Romsey office. Due to sustained growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Civil Engineer with a strong background in drainage design to play a key role in delivering interesting projects that contribute positively to communities and the environment 

    The Role:

    Lead the design and delivery of surface water and foul drainage schemes
    Prepare Flood Risk Assessments (FRAs) and SAB applications
    Undertake drainage strategies in line with current regulations and best practice (SuDS focus)
    Support highway design where required, including S278, S38, and S104 agreements
    Manage project workflows, providing guidance and mentorship to junior engineers
    Liaise with internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders including local authorities and statutory bodies
    Projects span a wide range of sectors, including residential developments, education, conservation, industrial schemes, commercial projects and more.

    Ideal Skills & Experience:

    3+ years’ experience in civil engineering, with a strong emphasis on drainage design
    Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and MicroDrainage/Flow (or similar software)
    Good understanding of SuDS principles and UK drainage standards
    Strong communication and organisational skills
    Ambition to progress professionally within a growing consultancy
