How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Salary:                 £32,136 - £47,133 (subject to agreement)

    We are looking for an enthusiastic, suitably qualified individual who will play a crucial role in realising the department’s strategic objectives. You will be an inspiring lecturer with a background in Engineering.  You will also have the ability to deliver varied, high quality and imaginative sessions and have a record of good achievement rates.

    You will need to demonstrate an understanding and sensitivity towards a variety of learner needs and support the delivery team with a range of innovative teaching approaches to enable learners to reach their full potential.

    Main Duties and Responsibilities:

    To deliver lively and interactive teaching, learning and assessment to an outstanding standard on a range of programmes as appropriate.
    To secure outstanding success for all learners and ensure targets for recruitment, retention, achievement and success, attendance and progression are met.
    To support the design and development of engineering programmes across the provision range in engineering.
    To teach on a range of full-time, part-time and apprenticeship programmes within the engineering department.
    Engage in core duties including preparation, marking, monitoring student progress, preparing reports, setting and marking of examination papers, developing and preparing flexible learning materials.Required Skills and Experience:

    has a relevant degree in Engineering and equivalent higher technical expertise in this field (Mechanical & Electrical Engineering)
    Has or is willing to study for a relevant teaching qualification (DTLLS, PGCE or equivalent).
    Has industry experience, with current knowledge and the ability to deliver to industry standard.
    Is well organised and able to manage the peaks and troughs of a varied workload. What’s in it for you?
