We are seeking a highly skilled and action-oriented Logistics Co-Ordinator with proven expertise in international freight operations, customs compliance, and export documentation. This role has full ownership of end-to-end logistics execution across road, sea, and air freight, ensuring compliant, cost-effective, and on-time delivery across UK, European, Far East, and Middle East markets.
The successful candidate must demonstrate advanced, hands-on mastery of International Commercial Trade Terms (Incoterms), with proven ability to apply, challenge, and optimise Freight Prepaid and Freight Collect structures across international shipments. This role requires commercial confidence to challenge freight pricing between sellers, buyers, and forwarders, alongside practical experience creating commercial invoices, managing Chamber of Commerce portals, calculating customs duties, and executing shipments through freight forwarder platforms.
This position plays a critical role in protecting the company’s global supply chain integrity, financial accuracy, and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
* Transport & Freight Operations: Manage end-to-end international shipments (road, sea, air), including planning, booking, and cost optimization. Handle shipping documentation (invoices, HS codes, COO, Incoterms), and coordinate daily with carriers (e.g., UPS, DHL) to ensure efficient and cost-effective delivery.
* Customs Compliance & Trade Regulations: Oversee export/import declarations and ensure full compliance with customs laws. Accurately calculate duties, VAT, and fees, maintain correct commodity codes and origin data, and manage post-Brexit UK–EU procedures and documentation.
* Documentation & Certification: Prepare and manage commercial invoices, certificates of origin, and legalization processes via Chamber of Commerce portals, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance.
* Dangerous Goods Handling: Coordinate shipments of hazardous materials (e.g., lithium batteries), ensuring proper classification, documentation (MSDS), and compliance with international safety regulations (IATA, IMDG, ADR).
* Reverse Logistics: Handle returned goods, including re-import documentation, classification, and inventory reconciliation.
* Cross-Functional Coordination: Collaborate with internal teams (Production, Sales, Finance, etc.) to align shipments, control freight costs, and communicate delivery timelines and customs impacts. Review and validate freight invoices.
* Performance Monitoring & Improvement:Track logistics KPIs (on-time delivery, cost efficiency, documentation accuracy), ensure shipment traceability, and continuously improve processes by negotiating better terms with logistics providers.
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
* Minimum 5 GCSEs (Grade C or above) including English and Mathematics (or equivalent).
* Proven, hands-on experience in logistics, international shipping, or supply chain coordination.
* Demonstrated experience exporting to Far East and Middle East markets.
* Strong working knowledge of: Commercial invoices, Export declarations, Chambers of Commerce portals, Customs duties and thresholds, Commodity codes and COO requirements, International Commercial Trade Terms
* Experience using ERP systems and freight forwarder portals.
* Demonstrable logistics and customs experience operating under post-Brexit UK–EU trade regulations.
