How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

English Teacher – Alternative Provision (SEMH), Uxbridge

Are you a passionate and resilient English Teacher looking for a truly rewarding opportunity? TLTP are working with a specialist Alternative Provision in Uxbridge who are seeking an inspiring English Teacher to join their dedicated team on a full-time basis.

This role is ideal for an English Teacher who is confident supporting students with complex behavioural, social, emotional, and mental health needs. The successful English Teacher will deliver engaging and structured lessons that help students achieve academic success while building confidence, resilience, and positive learning behaviours.

The role would suit an English Teacher who thrives in a supportive but structured environment and is committed to helping young people who may have experienced barriers to mainstream education.

    About the School

This specialist Alternative Provision in Uxbridge supports students who are unable to access mainstream education due to SEMH needs, behavioural challenges, or previous school exclusions.

    The provision offers:

Small class sizes (typically 6–8 pupils)

High staff-to-student ratios with additional Teaching Assistant support

A focused and flexible curriculum centred on core subjects and functional skills

A structured, therapeutic approach to behaviour and emotional regulation

A supportive team experienced in working with students with complex behavioural needs

The English Teacher will play a key role in creating a safe, consistent, and engaging classroom environment, helping students re-engage with learning and work towards GCSE or alternative English qualifications, while developing essential life and communication skills.

    Requirements for the English Teacher

    QTS or QTLS (essential)

Experience teaching English at KS3 and KS4 (KS5 desirable but not essential)

Experience working with challenging behaviour, SEMH needs, or Alternative Provision settings

Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills

Ability to plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons

A calm, patient, and resilient approach

A genuine passion for supporting young people who require additional behavioural and emotional support

The School Offers the English Teacher

A supportive and experienced leadership team

A collaborative and welcoming staff environment

Ongoing professional development and behaviour-focused training

The opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of vulnerable young people

A rewarding role within a purpose-driven Alternative Provision setting

This is an exciting opportunity for an English Teacher who is motivated, resilient, and committed to supporting students with complex behavioural needs. Whether you have experience in SEMH schools, Alternative Provision, PRUs, or mainstream settings with high behavioural needs, this role offers the chance to make a meaningful and lasting impact.

If you are ready to bring structure, empathy, and creativity to the classroom, apply today to become the next exceptional English Teacher in this specialist Alternative Provision in Uxbridge.
