We are seeking an experienced Steel Operative to join our team on a shift basis, working either from 6am to 2pm or 2pm to 10pm. The role involves working within a dynamic manufacturing environment, contributing to the fabrication and assembly of steel components. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in steel fabrication, welding, and mechanical processes, with a keen eye for detail and safety. Duties
* Operate fabrication equipment such as grinding machines, welding apparatus, and hand tools to produce high-quality steel components
* Assist with sheet metal cutting, shaping, and assembly tasks in accordance with technical specifications
* Perform basic measurements and calculations using standard maths skills to ensure precision in work
* Conduct routine inspections of materials and finished products for quality assurance
* Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to health and safety regulations
* Support the setup and changeover of tooling and fixtures for different production runs
* Collaborate with team members to meet production targets efficiently while maintaining safety standards
Qualifications
* Proven experience in steel fabrication, welding, grinding, or similar mechanical roles
* Knowledge of sheet metal work and assembly processes
* Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and tooling used in steel fabrication
* Mechanical knowledge relevant to manufacturing environments
* Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications accurately
* Basic maths skills for measurements and calculations
* Good organisational skills with attention to detail
* Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
