How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and experienced External Academic Board Member to join our dynamic team—an exciting opportunity to influence the education sector and support strategic development in a collaborative environment.

    Hours of Work: part time

    As an External Academic Board Member, you will play a vital role in providing independent oversight and strategic challenge to our governance processes. You will attend key meetings, scrutinise documentation, and offer expert advice on quality assurance, academic standards, and regulatory compliance to ensure continuous enhancement of our programmes and student experience.

    External Academic Board Member Duties include attending three Academic Board meetings annually, providing constructive academic scrutiny, reviewing relevant documentation, advising on quality assurance and regulatory expectations, offering external insights on risk and enhancement, and producing an annual report with observations, risks, and recommendations. Your strategic input will help shape policy, maintain standards, and foster innovation within our organisation.

    External Academic Board Member Requirements:

    Senior experience within UK higher education, including academic leadership or quality assurance roles
    A strong understanding of academic standards, assessment processes, and student-centred learning principles
    Excellent communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear and insightful reports
    Ability to think independently and provide constructive challenge confidently
    Experience in international education, partnership provision, or OfS regulatory compliance (desirable but not essential)External Academic Board Member Benefits:
