How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Location: UK‑based | Hybrid working (Combination of home working and office attendance as required)

    Contract: Permanent

16 hours per week (flexible working pattern considered)

    Reporting to: Claims Manager

    Role Purpose:

We are seeking an experienced and empathetic Dento‑Legal Adviser to join our expanding team on a part‑time, permanent basis. This role will focus on pre‑claim dento‑legal support, providing timely, practical guidance to dental professionals when they need it most.

You will support clients with early‑stage matters, including responding to patient complaints, risk mitigation, and professional decision‑making, helping to resolve concerns at the earliest possible stage and reduce the likelihood of escalation into claims or regulatory action.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly respected, expanding dento‑legal team, with access to peer support, mentorship, and structured training from some of the most experienced and well‑known dento‑legal advisers in the UK.

    Key Responsibilities

    Client Advice & Support:

    • Provide clear, pragmatic dento‑legal advice to dental professionals on pre‑policy matters, with a focus on:
    • Patient complaints and complaint response drafting
    • Consent, record‑keeping, and communication issues
    • Professional conduct and ethical decision‑making
    • Support clients in managing risk proactively, helping them understand how to avoid escalation and medico‑legal exposure.
    • Deliver advice that is legally robust, proportionate, and aligned with current professional standards.

    Risk Mitigation & Prevention:

    • Identify patterns or common risk themes within client queries and provide guidance aimed at risk reduction and best practice.
    • Support clients in strengthening systems, processes, and behaviours that improve patient safety and professional protection.
    • Contribute to internal knowledge‑sharing to support consistent, high‑quality advice across the team.

    Collaboration & Team Contribution:

    • Work collaboratively within a growing dento‑legal team, sharing insight and learning with peers.
    • Engage fully in peer support, supervision, and training opportunities provided by senior dento‑legal advisers.
    • Participate in case discussions and quality assurance activities as required.

    Person Specification:

    Essential Criteria:

    • GDC‑registered dentist (current or recent registration).
    • Significant post‑qualification clinical experience within UK dental practice.
    • Demonstrable interest in dento‑legal, ethical, and regulatory matters.
    • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex issues clearly and sensitively.
    • Sound professional judgement and a calm, client‑focused approach.
    • Postgraduate qualification or formal training in Dental Law, Ethics, or Medico‑Legal Practice (e.g. PG Cert Dental Law & Ethics, LLM, or equivalent).

    Desirable Criteria:

    • Experience supporting colleagues with complaints, advisory work, or dento‑legal queries.
    • Previous involvement with risk management, governance, or professional standards.

    What We Offer:

    • A part‑time, permanent role with genuine flexibility (16 hours per week).
    • Hybrid working arrangement supporting work‑life balance.
    • The opportunity to work alongside and learn from nationally recognised dento‑legal experts.
    • Structured onboarding, training, and peer support within a collaborative team.
    • Meaningful work focused on prevention, support, and professional development, rather than claim‑driven activity.
    • Competitive pro‑rata remuneration aligned to senior dento‑legal advisory roles.
    • Company Pension Scheme
    • Access to Company Share-Save Scheme
