How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    • Implementing robust workflows, quality standards, and compliance processes.

    Client Advisory & Complex Work

    • Managing your own high-quality caseload including M&A, shareholder agreements, commercial contracts, corporate restructuring, joint ventures, and governance matters.
    • Acting as a trusted advisor to SMEs, owner-managed businesses, and high‑value commercial clients across Gloucestershire and beyond.
    • Ensuring exceptional service delivery that strengthens WSP’s reputation for clarity, approachability, and expertise.

    Business Development & Profile Building

    • Proactively developing new client relationships and nurturing existing ones to drive departmental revenue.
    • Collaborating with the Marketing and BD to identify opportunities, attend networking events, and represent the firm externally.
    • Playing a central role in firm-wide business development initiatives and strategic projects.

    People Development & Mentoring

    • Supervising junior lawyers, providing continual feedback, and supporting career development through coaching and structured progression paths.
    • Building a collaborative, high‑performing departmental culture.

    Qualifications

    • 5+ years PQE in corporate or commercial law

    Required Skills

    • A proven track record of business development, client relationship management, and generating new work.
    • Experience mentoring junior lawyers or supervising a team.
    • Strong strategic thinking skills and the ability to drive operational improvement.
    • An approachable, collaborative style aligned with WSP’s values and people-first culture.
    • Ambition, confidence, and the desire to make a significant impact at leadership level.

    Pay range and compensation package

    • Competitive salary commensurate with seniority
    • Bonus & incentive schemes
    • 24 days annual leave + bank holidays + birthday leave
    • Hybrid and flexible working options
    • Corporate healthcare plan
    • Contributory pension scheme
    • Life assurance
    • Full Christmas shutdown
    • Free parking
    • Long-service awards
    • Staff discounts on legal services
