How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

A Magic Circle law firm with a market‑leading intellectual property disputes practice is seeking to hire a Patent Litigation Associate (1–3 PQE) as part of strategic growth within its high‑performing London disputes team.

You will join a specialist platform known for:

    • Advising on complex, high‑value patent litigation for some of the world’s most innovative life sciences, pharmaceutical, technology and telecoms businesses
    • Acting on strategically significant disputes before the High Court, Court of Appeal and the Unified Patent Court (UPC)
    • Handling technically demanding matters involving cutting‑edge science, expert‑heavy evidence and novel legal issues
    • Supporting clients on business‑critical disputes with significant commercial, regulatory and reputational impact
    • Providing clear, commercially focused advice directly to in‑house IP teams, R&D leadership and senior stakeholders
    • Seamless collaboration with colleagues across regulatory, competition, transactional and international disputes teams

This is a team operating at the top end of the patent litigation market, handling disputes where intellectual rigour, strategic judgement and technical excellence are essential.

    The Role

You will advise on a broad range of sophisticated patent litigation matters, including:

    • Patent infringement and validity proceedings
    • Interim applications and urgent relief
    • Management of complex technical and expert evidence
    • Drafting pleadings, witness statements and submissions
    • Preparation for and attendance at trials and hearings, including UPC proceedings
    • Coordinating cross‑border litigation strategy with international counsel

You will work closely with partners and senior associates on high‑profile disputes, while benefiting from excellent training, close supervision and early responsibility.

    About You

The team is seeking outstanding candidates who:

    • Are UK‑qualified with 1–3 PQE in patent litigation
    • Open to Aus & NZ candidates (but allow for the 2 years of PQE discount)
    • Have trained at a City, Magic Circle or leading international firm
    • Have strong academic credentials and a genuine interest in technically complex disputes
    • Are comfortable engaging with scientific, expert‑driven and evidence‑heavy matters
    • Are proactive, detail‑oriented and thrive in a fast‑paced, intellectually demanding environment

Candidates with experience in life sciences, pharmaceuticals, telecoms or technology disputes are particularly encouraged to apply.

    Why This Role?

This is an opportunity to join an elite Magic Circle patent litigation practice offering:

    • Direct access to market‑leading partners and flagship disputes
    • Exposure to some of the most complex and high‑profile IP litigation in the UK and Europe
    • Meaningful involvement in UPC proceedings and cross‑border matters
    • Exceptional training, development and long‑term career prospects
    • A collaborative, high‑performance and intellectually rigorous culture
