A leading US law firm with a top‑tier restructuring and special situations practice is seeking to hire a Restructuring Associate (3–6 PQE) as part of continued strategic growth within its high‑performing London team.
You will join a specialist platform known for:
- Advising creditors, bondholders, funds and financial sponsors on complex UK and European restructurings
- Acting on high‑profile, cross‑border recapitalisations and distressed situations
- Handling sophisticated capital‑structure driven matters, including bond‑led restructurings
- Supporting clients across restructurings, refinancings, amendments, distressed M&A and special situations
- Providing commercially focused, strategic advice directly to investment professionals and senior stakeholders
- Seamless collaboration with colleagues across finance, capital markets and European restructuring teams
This is a team operating at the top end of the restructuring market, handling matters where technical excellence, commercial judgement and cross‑border coordination are critical.
The Role
You will advise on a broad range of complex restructuring and special situations matters, including:
- UK and European restructurings and recapitalisations
- Bondholder and creditor‑side mandates
- Amend‑and‑extend transactions and distressed refinancings
- Distressed M&A and liability management exercises
- Complex cross‑border capital structures
- Coordinating multi‑jurisdictional workstreams across Europe and the US
You will work closely with partners and clients in lean, high‑performance teams, with increasing responsibility for managing workstreams and supporting junior team members.
About You
The team is seeking high‑calibre candidates who:
- Are UK‑qualified with 3–6 PQE in restructuring, insolvency or special situations
- Have experience gained at a Magic Circle or leading US firm
- Are already working on high‑end, complex restructuring matters
- Have strong technical foundations and commercial awareness
- Thrive in fast‑paced, intellectually demanding and collaborative environments
Candidates must have genuinely comparable restructuring experience; offshore or non‑equivalent profiles are unlikely to be suitable.
