How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    AJ Chambers are delighted to be partnering with a Top 100 law firm who are currently seeking an Employment Lawyer to join their expanding legal team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a motivated and skilled individual to further develop their expertise in employment law.


    Main Duties:


    • Managing a caseload of Employment Tribunal claims
    • Conducting or assisting at hearings, including substantive merit hearings and preliminary hearings
    • Drafting documents, schedules of loss, witness statements, and where appropriate skeleton arguments to a high standard
    • Advising on litigation strategy, prospects, and settlement at all stages
    • Advising employer clients on the full range of employment law issues including redundancy, TUPE, disciplinary and grievance processes, absence management, and performance management
    • Advising individual employees and senior executives on their rights, options, and strategy in relation to contract negotiation, termination, discrimination, whistleblowing, employment tribunal claims and contractual disputes
    • Negotiating settlement agreements on behalf of departing employees
    • Supporting clients on complex workforce restructuring and change management programmes (including both individual and collective redundancy)
    • Advising on executive exits, settlement agreements, and restrictive covenant disputes
    • Building and maintaining strong client relationships with the objective of becoming a trusted, go-to adviser
    • Contributing to the team's business development activities including seminars, client briefings, and thought leadership content
    • Identifying opportunities to cross-refer work and expand client relationships


    Requirements:


    • Qualified solicitor or barrister with at least four year's PQE in employment law (England and Wales).
    • Demonstrable experience of running Employment Tribunal cases
    • Experience advising both employer and employee/individual clients
    • Track record of advising on strategic HR matters in addition to day-to-day employment issues
