How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

We are currently partnering with a highly regarded M&E contractor with a strong and growing pipeline of commercial and industrial projects across London and the surrounding areas. Due to continued expansion, they are seeking an experienced M&E Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team and take ownership of the financial delivery of key schemes. This is an excellent opportunity to join a people‑focused business that invests in development and offers genuine progression into senior commercial roles.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Prepare and submit interim valuations and applications for payment

    • Identify, price and agree variations with clients and main contractors

    • Procure and manage subcontractor packages, including issuing orders and assessing interim payments

    • Monitor project costs against budget and report on financial performance

    • Attend project and commercial meetings, providing accurate cost reporting to senior management

    • Support the estimating team with tender reviews and handover documentation

    • Manage risk and opportunity across a portfolio of commercial and industrial schemes

    • Build strong working relationships with clients, contractors and supply chain partners

    Requirements:

    • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within an M&E or building services contractor

    • Strong understanding of M&E packages, subcontract procurement and NEC/JCT contract forms

    • Commercially astute with excellent attention to detail

    • Confident communicator, comfortable engaging with clients and contractors at all levels

    • Degree‑qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)

    • Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with estimating or QS software is an advantage

    Why This Role Stands Out:

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a respected contractor with a strong pipeline, a supportive culture and clear progression routes into senior commercial roles.

If you’re an experienced M&E Quantity Surveyor looking to take the next step in your career, we’d love to hear from you.
