How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    The Firm

    Our client is a global legal powerhouse with a reputation for handling the most complex, high-value mandates in the financial world. While they have long been a dominant force in Global M&A and Capital Markets, the firm is currently executing a strategic expansion, with significant focus on its European platform.


    This is one of my best clients where I have placed more than half a dozen associates across the firm over the past twelve months, and know the senior management of the firm extremely well.


    The firm pays Cravath but does not have a crazy hours culture, putting more value on the technical rigour of its work which is often novel and exclusively at the very top end of market.


    The Role

    Joining the Financial Services Regulatory practice, you will work within a lean, high-calibre team led by some of the most respected names in the City. The practice is known for its generalist approach, meaning you will gain exposure to a broader range of matters than is typically possible at Magic Circle firms - including private capital, banking and a breadth of FS clientele.


    Key responsibilities include

    • Advising premier global investment banks and private capital providers on UK/EU regulatory frameworks.
    • Supporting cross-border strategic M&A and restructuring projects.
    • Providing high-level advisory on complex structural changes and new market entries.
    • Interacting directly with senior stakeholders at Tier 1 financial institutions.


    Requirements

    • Experience: 1–4 years PQE gained within a leading Financial Services Regulatory practice (Likely Magic Circle, Silver Circle, or high-end US firm).
    • Academics: A distinguished academic record from a top-tier university is essential.
    • Technical Rigour: A deep understanding of non-contentious regulatory matters and the ability to apply that knowledge to commercial, multi-jurisdictional transactions.
    • Ambition: A desire to move beyond "siloed" law and develop into a well-rounded legal advisor within an entrepreneurial environment.
