How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Workshop Engineer – Heavy Plant Equipment
    Biggleswade | Permanent | Leading OEM
    Are you an experienced mechanical engineer looking to move into heavy plant and earthmoving equipment?
    Or perhaps you already work with heavy machinery and want a workshop-based role with a leading international OEM?
    This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly skilled engineering team at a busy workshop in Biggleswade, carrying out repairs, diagnostics, servicing and overhauls on a range of heavy plant equipment.
    You’ll be working on serious machinery, solving technical problems and carrying out high-quality repairs — without spending your working week travelling from site to site.
    The Role
    Working as part of an experienced workshop team, you’ll be responsible for diagnosing faults, repairing and maintaining heavy plant machinery to OEM standards.
    The workshop supports customers across the business and plays an important role in ensuring machines are repaired, prepared and returned to service safely and efficiently.
    Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
    * Diagnosing mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults
    * Repairing, servicing and overhauling heavy plant machinery
    * Carrying out Pre-Delivery Inspections (PDIs)
    * Inspecting machinery and identifying additional repair or maintenance requirements
    * Completing repairs to a high standard and in line with manufacturer procedures
    * Supporting other engineers with technical issues when required
    * Working closely with other departments to coordinate repairs and machine availability
    * Maintaining accurate job cards, repair records and maintenance documentation
    * Ensuring all work is completed in accordance with health, safety and quality standards
    What We’re Looking For
    We’re interested in hearing from experienced engineers with a strong mechanical background.
    Ideally, you’ll have experience working with:
    Heavy plant | Earthmoving equipment | Construction machinery | Agricultural machinery | HGVs | Large mechanical equipment
    You should have:
    * Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skills
    * Experience servicing and repairing machinery or heavy equipment
    * A good understanding of hydraulics, engines and mechanical systems
    * A methodical approach to diagnostics and problem-solving
    * Good communication skills
    * The ability to work effectively as part of a workshop team
    * A strong focus on safety and quality
    A relevant mechanical engineering, plant maintenance, agricultural engineering or similar qualification would be advantageous, although practical experience is equally important.
    Why Join?
    This is an opportunity to build a long-term career with an established international OEM, working with high-quality machinery and alongside experienced engineers.
    You’ll benefit from:
    * Competitive salary based on experience
    * Permanent, workshop-based position in Biggleswade
    * Training and ongoing technical development
    * Opportunities for career progression
    * Comprehensive company benefits package
    * Exposure to a wide range of heavy plant machinery
    * The backing and resources of a global equipment manufacturer
    * A skilled and supportive engineering team
    Interested?
    If you’re an experienced engineer looking for your next move — whether you already work in heavy plant or want to transfer your skills into the industry — we’d like to hear from you.
    Apply today and we can have a confidential conversation about the role, the company and whether it could be the right next step for you.
    All applications and enquiries will be treated in the strictest confidence
