How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Responsible Structural / Civil Engineer
Lead civil and structural asset integrity at a major manufacturing site
Wolviston Management Services is proud to be working in partnership with Tioxide to recruit a Responsible Structural / Civil Engineer for their Greatham site.
This is a key engineering role where you will help ensure civil and structural assets are designed, installed, commissioned, maintained, inspected and operated in line with UK legislation, Greatham engineering standards and recognised best practice.
You will lead civil and structural asset life planning, manage inspection and repair activity, support capital projects and act as the technical interface with specialist suppliers, inspection companies and competent authorities.
    What you’ll be doing
    You will:
    * Develop and deliver the site asset life strategy for civil and structural assets.
    * Ensure civil and structural risks are identified, managed and controlled.
    * Support regulatory compliance and asset availability for production.
    * Assist the Responsible Mechanical Engineer with technical responses to the HSE and Environment Agency.
    * Act as the technical interface for civil and structural matters with specialist suppliers and inspection companies.
    * Ensure assets are maintained, inspected, repaired and operated in line with legislation, standards and best practice.
    * Select competent civil and structural companies to work on site.
    * Organise inspections, interpret inspection reports, prioritise repairs and produce repair tender documents.
    * Manage contractors on site to ensure work is completed safely and to a high standard.
    * Maintain inspection records and documentation for critical infrastructure.
    * Manage the site infrastructure revenue and CAPEX budget.
    * Provide civil and structural engineering support to capital projects.
    * Own relevant engineering procedures covering structures, pipebridges, ground and groundwater protection, excavations and asbestos.
    * Promote a positive, values-led culture focused on safety, compliance and engineering best practice.
    Candidate requirements
We welcome applications from people who have:
    * A degree, or equivalent knowledge, in civil or structural engineering.
    * Membership of a relevant professional institution.
    * Experience in chemical, process, manufacturing, infrastructure or another high-hazard environment.
    * Experience managing civil or structural asset integrity, inspections, repairs or infrastructure programmes.
    * Strong leadership, negotiation, influencing and conflict resolution skills.
    * Excellent planning, organisation and stakeholder management skills.
    * The ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
    * A strong focus on high standards, compliance and safe working.
    * Chartered Engineer status would be welcomed.
    * Programme or project management experience in an asset integrity environment would be beneficial.
We know people gain skills in different ways. You do not need to meet every point above to apply. If this role interests you and you believe you could make a positive contribution, we would welcome your application.
    Why join Tioxide?
Join Tioxide in a visible civil and structural engineering role where your expertise will help protect critical infrastructure, strengthen asset integrity and support safe, reliable operations across a major manufacturing site.
    Diversity and inclusion
Tioxide is committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace where everyone feels respected, valued and able to contribute. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, identities and experiences, including people from groups currently under-represented in civil, structural, engineering and manufacturing roles.
Tioxide and Wolviston Management Services are happy to discuss reasonable adjustments at any stage of the recruitment process
