How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    About the Role

    We are seeking a driven and commercially minded Business Development Executive with a background in construction or civil engineering. The role focuses on identifying new business opportunities, building client relationships, and supporting the growth of our project pipeline across infrastructure and construction sectors.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Identify and develop new business opportunities within construction, infrastructure, and civil engineering sectors

    * Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, consultants, and stakeholders

    * Research market trends, upcoming projects, and tender opportunities

    * Prepare and deliver presentations, proposals, and bids

    * Support the tendering process, including pre-qualification questionnaires (PQQs) and submissions

    * Collaborate with estimating, design, and project teams to develop competitive solutions

    * Attend industry events, networking functions, and client meetings

    * Maintain CRM systems and track business development activity

    * Contribute to strategic growth plans and market expansion

    Requirements

    * Proven experience in business development, sales, or a similar role within construction or civil engineering

    * Strong understanding of construction processes, project lifecycle, and industry terminology

    * Experience with tenders, frameworks, and procurement processes

    * Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills

    * Ability to identify and convert leads into opportunities

    * Commercial awareness and strategic thinking

    * Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM systems

    Desirable

    * Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field

    * Existing network within the construction or infrastructure industry

    * Experience working with main contractors, subcontractors, or consultancies
