How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    The Role and Responsibilities
    As an Asphalt Surfacing Contracts Manager, you will be entrusted with full responsibility for multiple surfacing schemes from inception through to completion. You will be the key link between clients, site teams, and senior leadership, ensuring smooth delivery across all stages.
    You will be doing:
    ·Managing multiple asphalt surfacing contracts simultaneously
    ·Overseeing project planning, programming, and resource allocation
    ·Ensuring all works comply with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards
    ·Leading, mentoring, and supporting site supervisors and operational teams
    ·Monitoring budgets, controlling costs, and maximising profitability
    ·Building and maintaining strong client relationships
    ·Preparing detailed progress reports and attending client meetings
    ·Resolving operational challenges efficiently and professionally
    Must Have Skills and Experience
    To succeed as an Asphalt Surfacing Contracts Manager, you will bring:
    ·Proven experience in a Contracts Manager or senior project management role within asphalt surfacing or civil engineering
    ·Strong commercial awareness with demonstrable cost control experience
    ·Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills
    ·In-depth knowledge of surfacing techniques, materials, and industry standards
    ·Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
    ·Relevant qualifications such as SMSTS, CSCS, NVQ Level 6/7 or equivalent (preferred)
