How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Role: Machine Tool Service Engineer

    Location: Leeds/Field Based

    Salary: Up to £50,000 depending on experience

    Our client is seeking a skilled and motivated Machine Tool Service Engineer to support the installation, maintenance, and repair of CNC and conventional machine tools across our customer base. This is a field-based role requiring a proactive individual who can work independently while delivering a high standard of technical support and customer service. The successful candidate will play a key role in minimising downtime, ensuring equipment performance, and maintaining strong client relationships.

    Responsibilities include:

    Install, commission, and test new machine tools at customer sites
    Diagnose faults and carry out mechanical, electrical, and control system repairs
    Perform routine servicing and preventative maintenance
    Provide technical support and guidance to customers on machine operation
    Complete detailed service reports and maintain accurate documentation
    Work closely with internal teams to ensure efficient service delivery
    Always adhere to health and safety standards

    Skills & Experience:

    Strong fault-finding ability across mechanical and electrical systems
    Knowledge of CNC control systems (e.g., Fanuc, Siemens, Heidenhain)
    Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
    Good communication and customer-facing skills
    Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
    Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
    Proven experience servicing CNC or conventional machine tools
    Previous field service experience is highly desirable
    Experience with PLC systems or programming is advantageous
    Full UK driving licence required
