How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Specialist Learning Support Assistant to join our inclusive and diverse secondary school community in London. This is an exciting opportunity to support students whose first language is not English, helping them to access the curriculum and achieve their full academic potential.

    Your new role
    We are seeking an experienced and motivated EAL (English as an Additional Language) Specialist Learning Support Assistant to join our inclusive and diverse secondary school community in London. This is an exciting opportunity to support students whose first language is not English, helping them to access the curriculum and achieve their full academic potential.
    Key Responsibilities

    Provide targeted in-class and small-group support for EAL students across a range of subjects
    Support newly arrived pupils with induction and language acquisition
    Work closely with teachers to adapt resources and strategies for EAL learners
    Track and support students' progress in English language development
    Promote inclusion, confidence, and positive engagement in learning
    Liaise with the EAL coordinator, pastoral staff, and families where appropriate

    What you'll need to succeed
    The successful candidate will:

    Have experience working with EAL learners in a secondary school setting
    Demonstrate a strong understanding of language acquisition strategies
    Be patient, adaptable, and culturally responsive
    Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    Be able to work effectively as part of a collaborative staff teamDesirable (but not essential):

    Relevant qualification in EAL, linguistics, education, or teaching assistance
    Experience supporting students with varying levels of English proficiency
    Additional language skills
