How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job Title: Head of Business & Economics

    Location: Enfield, North London

    Start Date: September 2026

    Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time

    Salary: Inner London MPS/UPS + TLR (dependent on experience)

    An Enfield based secondary school are seeking an inspiring and experienced Head of Business & Economics to lead a thriving and popular department within a high-performing secondary school in Enfield. This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate practitioner and leader to shape a curriculum that equips students with the knowledge, confidence and skills to succeed in the real world.

    As Head of Department, you will play a pivotal role in driving standards, developing staff, and ensuring students are fully prepared for their futures.

    Key Responsibilities

    Lead and develop the Business & Economics department across Key Stages 4 and 5

    Deliver high-quality teaching and learning, modelling outstanding classroom practice

    Design and implement an ambitious, knowledge-rich and relevant curriculum

    Drive student progress and attainment through effective assessment and intervention

    Monitor performance data and implement strategies to close attainment gaps

    Coach, mentor and support colleagues to ensure continuous professional growth

    Promote enrichment opportunities including enterprise activities, trips and employer engagement

    Build strong relationships with students, staff, parents and the wider community

    The Ideal Candidate Will Have

    Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) - essential

    Proven experience teaching Business and/or Economics at KS4 and KS5

    A strong track record of raising attainment and outcomes

    Experience of leading, or the ambition and readiness to step into a leadership role

    Excellent subject knowledge and a passion for real-world application

    Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others

    A commitment to high expectations and inclusive education
