How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Mechanical Design Engineer | Spalding, Lincolnshire | £35,000 – £45,000

Looking for a hands-on design role where you can take ownership of projects from concept through to manufacture, working on real engineering equipment rather than repetitive components?

    What you’ll be doing

This is a cradle-to-grave mechanical design role, working on bespoke bulk material handling equipment used across industries such as food, pharmaceutical and industrial processing.

You’ll take ownership of individual projects, producing 3D models, detailed drawings and bills of materials, adapting existing designs to suit customer specifications.

Most work is completed independently, with responsibility for managing your own design workload, typically one project at a time, with occasional overlap.

    What you’ll need

    • Experience in mechanical design (ideally 3–5 years, but open to less with the right attitude)
    • Strong 3D CAD skills (Inventor preferred, but SolidWorks or similar transferable)
    • Ability to produce GA drawings, detailed drawings and BOMs
    • Comfortable working on bespoke or configurable machinery
    • Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail

    Desirable:
    • Experience with bulk handling, conveyors, or similar machinery
    • Understanding of mechanical calculations

    The role

    • £35,000 – £45,000
    • Primarily 3D design work (minimal 2D)
    • Mix of new designs and modifications to proven equipment
    • Ownership of full design lifecycle on each project
    • Stable workload with a steady pipeline of orders

    About the company

A specialist engineering manufacturer designing and producing bulk material handling equipment, supplying into sectors including food, pharmaceutical and industrial processing. Their products are built around proven designs, adapted to meet specific customer requirements
    Salary description

    £35000.00 - £45000.00 per year
