How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Senior Quantity Surveyor (Fire Protection)

We are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to take a leading role within our Fire Protection division, overseeing the commercial delivery of technically demanding, safety‑critical projects nationwide. This position offers the chance to manage flagship fire protection schemes, influence commercial strategy, and help shape best practice in a rapidly expanding, highly regulated sector - all within a supportive, employee‑owned organisation that invests in long‑term career development.

    Key Responsibilities

Take full commercial responsibility for fire protection projects, ensuring robust financial management and profitable outcomes.

Lead cost planning, forecasting, cash‑flow management and cost‑to‑complete reviews across multiple live projects.

Manage interim valuations, final accounts, invoicing and payment processes with accuracy and compliance.

Administer JCT and NEC contracts, including handling variations, compensation events, claims and final negotiations.

Identify and control commercial, contractual and regulatory risks within safety‑critical fire protection environments.

Develop procurement strategies for specialist fire protection subcontractors, driving value and performance.

Produce clear, insightful commercial reports for senior leadership and support audit and governance processes.

Represent the commercial function in senior‑level discussions and contribute to business planning and continuous improvement.

Support tendering and bid activity, providing strong commercial insight and helping build long‑term client relationships.

Lead, mentor and develop QS and commercial team members, setting high standards and supporting progression.

Collaborate closely with site teams, clients and internal stakeholders to ensure commercial decisions align with safe, compliant delivery.

    What You'll Bring

A degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related field.

Demonstrable experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within fire protection, remediation or similarly regulated construction sectors.

Strong understanding of passive fire protection works and compliance‑driven, safety‑critical environments.

Excellent working knowledge of NEC and JCT contracts, including change control, claims and dispute processes.

A proven track record in commercial reporting, forecasting, risk management and financial performance.

Experience procuring and managing specialist subcontractor packages.

Confident leadership and mentoring abilities, with strong influencing skills.

A professional, detail‑driven and ethical approach to commercial management.

Strong Excel capability and confidence using commercial reporting systems
