How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Quality Engineer (Rail Engineering) – Permanent | Croydon | £40,000 – £50,000 + Bonus

    Ceto Talent is recruiting a Quality Engineer (Rail Engineering) for a permanent opportunity with a well‑established engineering and manufacturing organisation based in Croydon. The role supports rail engineering activity across both new build programmes and aftermarket services, including repair, overhaul, and field service support for the UK and Ireland markets.

    This role would suit a Quality Engineer with experience in rail engineering or a regulated, safety‑critical engineering environment, looking for a stable, long‑term position within a specialist rail engineering business.

    About You

    You will have experience working in a Quality Engineering role within a manufacturing, engineering, or industrial environment. Exposure to rail engineering, rolling stock, rail systems, or rail‑aligned engineering activities is highly desirable.

    You will have a sound understanding of quality management systems, quality assurance processes, and compliance requirements, along with the confidence to work closely with engineering, workshop, and service teams. You will be comfortable investigating non‑conformances, supporting corrective actions, and contributing to continuous improvement.

    Experience working within regulated or safety‑critical environments is beneficial. You should be willing to support overtime activity when required to meet operational or customer demands.

    You must be eligible to work in the UK on a permanent basis.

    The Role

    You will support quality activities across rail engineering operations, including workshop‑based repair and overhaul and support to field service activity. The role involves maintaining quality standards, supporting audits, managing quality documentation, and working with engineering teams to ensure products and services meet required rail and industry standards.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Support quality management systems across rail engineering operations

    * Assist with quality inspections, audits, and compliance activities

    * Investigate non‑conformances and support corrective and preventive actions

    * Work closely with engineering, workshop, and service teams

    * Support quality documentation, work instructions, and reporting

    What’s on Offer

    * £40,000 – £50,000 salary plus bonus, dependent on experience

    * Permanent, Croydon‑based role

    * 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays (pro‑rated in year of joining)

    * Life assurance from day one

    * Option to join a private medical scheme after a qualifying period

    * Pension scheme available

    * Overtime opportunities available

    * 36.5‑hour working week with an early finish on Fridays
