How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Senior Civil Engineer
    💰 Up to £55,000 + Package

    About the Company
    Our client is a leading Tier 1 UK infrastructure and construction business, delivering major projects across highways, infrastructure, water, and the built environment.
    Their Manchester team is involved in a range of high-profile civil engineering schemes, working closely with local authorities and key public/private sector clients.
    With a strong pipeline of secured work, they offer long-term stability, clear progression, and exposure to complex projects.

    The Role
    They are looking to appoint a Senior Civil Engineer to support the delivery of infrastructure and highways schemes across the North West.
    This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of design packages, contribute to project delivery from concept through to construction, and support the development of junior engineers.

    Key Responsibilities

    Lead the design and delivery of civil engineering projects
    Produce and review technical designs (highways, drainage, infrastructure)
    Prepare reports, calculations, and technical documentation
    Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and local authorities
    Support and mentor junior engineers
    Ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations

    What They’re Looking For

    Experience in civil engineering design (consultancy or contractor environment)
    Strong background in highways and/or drainage design
    Proficiency with design software (e.g. Civil 3D, MicroDrainage)
    Good understanding of UK design standards
    Ability to manage workload and contribute to project delivery
    Working towards or already chartered (ICE or similar)
