How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

This role will be working on a hybrid basis and can be based anywhere in the UK. You will be working with a multidisciplinary team at the forefront of delivering efficient, cost-effective and forward-thinking engineering solutions to complex challenges. In this role, you'll play a key part in shaping practical, high-quality designs across a diverse portfolio of energy projects.

You'll contribute across the full project lifecycle-from early-stage feasibility and concept development through to FEED, value engineering and detailed design. The position offers the opportunity to play a leading role in producing electrical engineering deliverables, while supporting the evaluation, optimisation and safe operation of electrical systems within the energy sector.

We are looking for a Principal Electrical Engineer who can:

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop innovative, practical and cost-efficient engineering solutions.
Contribute to projects at all stages, from feasibility studies through to detailed design delivery.
Produce and develop key electrical deliverables, including single line diagrams, cable calculations, block diagrams, layouts, routing and containment designs, switchgear philosophies, and bills of materials/quantities.
Engage with equipment vendors to support package development and participate in technical assessments of supplier proposals.
Assist clients-including owners, operators and investors-in evaluating the performance, condition and risks of electrical assets, identifying improvement opportunities.
Support the preparation of proposals and bids, contributing to EC&I discipline inputs and multidisciplinary tender submissions.

This role will offer you a fantastic opportunity to work with an Energy Transition team, supporting clients through the full lifecycle of Energy projects from concept and development through to construction, operation and decommissioning. You will have the opportunity to work with developers, utilities, government organisations, financial institutions, contractors and OEMs, we are committed to delivering safe, high-quality outcomes that consistently exceed expectations. We would like to hear from you if you can offer:

A degree (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline, along with substantial post-graduate experience in electrical design, operation, maintenance or testing.
Chartered Engineer status, or progress toward IEng/CEng with a recognised professional institution.
The drive and capability to take ownership of electrical deliverables and contribute to the assessment of assets in both construction and operational phases.
Strong technical knowledge of power and energy project design, construction and operation.
A solid understanding of engineering design processes, including scopes, concepts, calculations and technical documentation, and/or hands-on experience with commissioning, operation, maintenance or testing of medium and high voltage systems
