How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Location: Haverhill (CB9)
    Job Type: Permanent
    Hours: 8.30am - 4pm, Monday to Friday (flexibility is required in line with business demand)

    Polytec are looking for a Lead Electrical Technician to join our Haverhill based client. The successful candidate will support the assembly and testing of high voltage (HV) and low voltage (LV) battery systems and supervise a small team of Technicians. All work must be carried out in line with strict electrical and safety procedures.

    Responsibilities

    - Assemble and test battery systems, including functional, safety, performance and endurance testing
    - Operate specialised equipment such as welders, cyclers, BMS diagnostic tools, insulation resistance testers, hipot testers, DMMs and data logging systems
    - Follow HV/LV safety protocols, including lock-out/tag-out procedures
    - Record and analyse test data, reporting deviations and supporting root-cause investigations
    - Support engineering teams with manufacturing processes, test planning and validation activities
    - Maintain calibration and maintenance records for equipment
    - Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing and testing

    Requirements

    - Hands-on experience as an Electrical Technician including work with high voltage systems
    - Manufacturing or production experience in an electrical or electronics environment
    - Strong understanding of HV and LV electrical principles and diagnostics
    - Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and technical documentation
    - Proficiency with electrical test equipment
    - HV certification or relevant industry training

    Desirable

    - Experience testing or validating battery systems or energy storage solutions
    - Knowledge of safety standards relating to HV battery systems
    - Experience with battery systems, power electronics or EV components
    - Electrical qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 3, 18th Edition, or equivalent)
    - Background in automotive, aerospace, battery manufacturing or other high-tech industries
