The position is primarily based in Year 3 during the mornings and Year 5 in the afternoons, supporting pupils with additional needs. The Year 5 cohort can present challenging behaviour, so we are seeking a confident and proactive individual who is comfortable managing behaviour positively and maintaining a structured learning environment.
About the Role
* Providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils with additional learning and behavioural needs
* Supporting learning in Year 3 in the mornings and Year 5 in the afternoons
* Assisting the class teacher with lesson delivery and classroom management
* Implementing behaviour management strategies and supporting pupils with emotional regulation
* Encouraging pupil engagement, independence, and positive behaviour
* Supporting the social and academic development of pupils
* Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, and other support staff
* Maintaining a safe and inclusive learning environment in line with safeguarding policies
The Ideal Candidate
* Has experience working with children in a primary or SEN setting
* Is confident managing challenging behaviour in a calm and professional manner
* Demonstrates patience, resilience, and strong communication skills
* Is proactive, reliable, and able to follow behaviour support plans
* Has a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
* Holds a relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential)
* Understands safeguarding responsibilities and promotes pupil wellbeing
