We are seeking an experienced Commissioning Manager (Mechanical) to support a major programme within a highly regulated nuclear environment. This role requires a technically strong, self-starting professional with deep experience in mechanical systems, commissioning processes, and documentation within controlled environments.
Role Overview
Lead and manage commissioning activities across mechanical systems and associated infrastructure
Oversee full commissioning lifecycle including planning, execution, and handover
Manage and review commissioning documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance
Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure systems are delivered safely and to specification
Act as a technical authority on mechanical commissioning matters
Systems & Technical Scope
Mechanical plant and building services systems
Gas systems and associated equipment (e.g. compressed air, specialist gases)
HVAC and ventilation systems
Pressure systems and distribution networks
Interface with electrical and control systems where required
Key Responsibilities
Lead Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) and support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) activities
Review and approve commissioning plans, procedures, and test packs
Ensure all commissioning activities meet stringent regulatory and safety standards
Produce and manage detailed commissioning reports and technical documentation
Drive issue resolution and ensure readiness for system handover
Maintain a strong focus on compliance within a highly regulated / nuclear environment
Essential Requirements
Proven experience in a Commissioning Manager or Senior Commissioning Engineer role (mechanical bias)
Strong background in gas systems, compressed air, or similar mechanical/process systems
Extensive experience with SAT, FAT, and commissioning documentation/reporting
Experience working in highly regulated environments (nuclear, defence, pharma, etc.)
Excellent technical knowledge of mechanical systems and commissioning processes
Ability to work independently and take ownership of deliverables
Valid CSCS card
SC Clearance (or ability to obtain)
Highly Desirable
Previous experience working on AWE projects or within the nuclear sector
Experience in defence or other high-security environments
Relevant engineering qualification (HNC/HND/Degree in Mechanical or related discipline)
