How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    About the Role

    We are looking for a Senior / Intermediate Mechanical Building Services Engineer to join a dynamic and growing team based in North Bristol. This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of mechanical design delivery across a wide range of projects, including both new build and refurbishment schemes across the UK.

    You will play a key role in delivering innovative, energy-efficient engineering solutions, while working closely with clients and multidisciplinary teams. For senior-level candidates, there will also be an expectation to support and mentor junior engineers, helping to develop the next generation within the business.

    Key Responsibilities

    Lead mechanical building services design across all RIBA stages

    Deliver sustainable, low-carbon engineering solutions across multiple sectors

    Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, and contractors

    Oversee installation, commissioning, and contractor performance

    Conduct site inspections, surveys, and project completion checks

    Produce high-quality technical documentation and reports

    Ensure compliance with health & safety and CDM regulations

    Manage project budgets, timelines, and quality standards

    Support and mentor junior engineers (Senior level)

    About You

    You will have a strong background in UK building services engineering, with experience delivering mechanical design across both new build and refurbishment projects. You will be confident leading projects, engaging with clients, and ensuring high-quality delivery from concept through to completion.

    You will also bring:

    Strong understanding of RIBA work stages

    Experience managing project programmes, budgets, and client expectations

    Knowledge of contractor supervision and commissioning processes

    A collaborative and solutions-focused mindset

    Excellent communication and leadership skills

    Technical Requirements

    Degree, HND or HNC in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services

    Experience using industry software such as AutoCAD, Revit (BIM), and IESVE (desirable)

    Membership of CIBSE or working towards professional registration
