How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Quantity Surveyor – Exciting Opportunity in Exeter

My client is a leading construction firm seeking a talented Quantity Surveyor to join its Exeter-based team, managing costs for innovative residential and regeneration projects across Devon and Somerset. This role offers a driven professional the chance to shape vibrant communities while working on diverse, high-profile developments in a region renowned for its beauty.

    Why This Role Stands Out:

Varied Project Portfolio: The successful candidate will oversee costs for a range of projects, from affordable housing to premium residential schemes, ensuring financial precision and project success.

Career Development: The company prioritizes professional growth, providing training, mentorship, and opportunities to advance within a supportive environment.

Regional Engagement: Based in Exeter, the role involves regular site visits across Devon and Somerset, combining strategic office work with hands-on site involvement.

Team-Oriented Culture: The firm fosters collaboration, valuing the Quantity Surveyor’s expertise and encouraging innovation within a dynamic team.

    Key Responsibilities:

Preparing accurate cost estimates, budgets, and tender documents to maintain financial control.

Managing subcontractor contracts, valuations, and payments with meticulous attention to detail.

Conducting risk assessments and cost control to ensure profitability while upholding quality standards.

Collaborating with project managers, site teams, and clients to deliver seamless project outcomes.

Negotiating contracts to secure maximum value for all stakeholders.

    Desired Qualifications and Skills:

Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, ideally in residential or mixed-use construction.

Strong knowledge of construction costs, contract management, and procurement processes.

Exceptional analytical and negotiation skills with a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Ability to work independently and thrive in a collaborative team setting.

Relevant qualifications, such as a degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent.

A full UK driving licence for travel to sites across Devon and Somerset.

    Why Join This Team?

The company is dedicated to building sustainable communities, not just homes. With a robust pipeline of projects and a focus on innovation, it offers a platform for you to make a lasting impact and develop your career. The role comes with a competitive salary, comprehensive benefits, and a workplace that champions professional success.

This is an opportunity to build a rewarding career while contributing to meaningful projects.
