How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    An established, multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy is looking to appoint a Technical Director - Fire Engineering to strengthen their team.

    This opportunity suits a high-level Technical Director - Fire Engineering who can offer strategic oversight across a varied range of building projects, while also contributing to the continued development of an expanding fire engineering function.

    The appointed Technical Director - Fire Engineering will take responsibility for guiding fire safety strategies, assisting with the successful delivery of projects, and maintaining high technical standards across the wider team.

    The Technical Director - Fire Engineering's Role

    Leading the development of fire safety strategies during design and construction stages
    Providing technical fire engineering analysis using both prescriptive and performance-based approaches
    Overseeing projects from concept through to completion
    Attending client, design team and regulatory meetings
    Carrying out site visits where required
    Preparing and reviewing fee proposals and supporting project planning
    Acting as a senior technical authority and reviewing work produced by other engineers
    Supporting the development and mentoring of fire engineering teams
    Maintaining strong relationships with clients and project stakeholdersThe Technical Director - Fire Engineering

    Extensive experience in fire safety engineering within a consultancy environment
    Degree or Master's qualification in Fire Engineering or a related discipline
    Strong technical understanding of fire engineered design solutions and regulations
    Demonstrated experience delivering projects from design through construction
    Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
    Full membership of the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE)
    Chartered Engineer status (or working towards) preferredIn Return?
