This role focuses on bringing the council's housing duty to a timely and lawful conclusion, supporting households to move on from temporary accommodation and securing suitable, sustainable housing outcomes in line with legislation.
Deliver effective move‑on solutions for households owed duties under S188 and S193, ensuring decisions are robust, lawful and clearly evidenced.
Assess and determine the suitability of accommodation in line with the HRA 2017 and relevant guidance.
Proactively procure private rented sector properties, negotiating with landlords to secure appropriate and affordable accommodation.
Support the discharge of duty through direct offers, suitability letters and homelessness decisions on the day where required.
What you'll need:
Strong working knowledge of homelessness legislation, including S188, S193, the Housing Reform Act (HRA) and suitability requirements
Experience sourcing and procuring private rented sector accommodation, including negotiating with landlords
Ability to attend the offices and travel across the borough
